Q. How Do I Send a Message?

Click on "Create Message", on the first page you can select what type of mailing you want, any additional mailing lists to include, templates and filters. When you have this set then click on "Submit/Next."

The Next page is where you compose your message. When your message is composed click on "Preview Message" at the bottom of the screen.

The last page allows you to preview the way your message looks before sending your mailing out. If you are satisfied with how your message looks then click on the red "Send Now" button at the bottom of the screen.

Below the "Send Now" button there are options to "Go Back to Editing", "Save for Later", "Save and Continue", and "Send Test Email".

Its always a good ideas to send yourself a test email before you send the email to all of your subscribers!!

Q. What are the HTML and Text Email options on the Create Message page

When you click on Create a Message you will be asked to select which type of mailing you want: HTML and TEXT, HTML ONLY, and TEXT ONLY. It is recommended that you use HTML and TEXT.

We recommend that you send your mailings in HTML and TEXT format as most modern email clients support this option.

Multi-Format (MIME), HTML and Text

This format allows you to send the message in 2 different formats. One format is HTML capable and the other is text-only. Both versions are embedded in a single e-mail and the user's e-mail client decides which version the user is capable of viewing. If the user has an HTML capable e-mail client it will display the HTML version. Otherwise it will display the text only. If the user's e-mail client does not support MIME e-mails it will display both versions.

So basically some of your users email software might only be able to read plain text emails, if this is the case and you send them an HTML email then they will just see all of the coding of the html email, so its always best to send a plain text vfersion of your email

Q. What are Autoresponders and how do i use them

The autoresponder features allow you to send mail automatically at specified intervals from the time of subscription or unsubscription, or based on particular dates stored in custom subscriber fields, such as birthday. You can set up autoresponders by going into your mailing list and selecting Presets->Autoresponders.

When setting up a new autoresponder, you have the option to use an existing message template as the base for your autoresponder message. Keep in mind that the autoresponder message will be saved seperately, so that any changes you make to the template would also need to be applied to the autoresponder. After you have selected a template (or no template), you will be taken to a page where you can set up the message itself as well as the the timing details for the autoresponder.

If you would like for your message to be sent out to each new subscriber immediately upon their subscription to your list, set the Timing of the message to 0 days and 0 hours. This is known as an Instant Autoresponder.

You may also apply any sending filters that you have set up to the autoresponder, thereby sending the autoresponder messages to only a certain group of your subscribers who meet the criteria of your filter.

Q. Personalising your email newsletters

Adding personalization tags to your mailing campaigns is a good way to connect with your subscriber base and establish loyalty amongst your readership. They also make the mailing more relevant to the addressee, giving them reason to examine the contents of your mailing. You can add personalization tags to either your HTML or Text mailings. If you are adding personalization tags to your HTML mailing you would simply need to click on Personalize Mailing within the WYSIWYG editor. For Text mailings you would simply use the Personalize Message drop down menu. Or you can always add these tags manually:

%PERS_EMAIL% - Subscriber's Email
%PERS_NAME% - Subscriber's Name
%PERS_IP% - Subscriber's IP Address
%PERS_TIME% - Time Subscribed
%PERS_DATE% - Date Subscribed
%PERS_XXXXXXXX% - Subscriber Fields
%PERS_UNSUB% - Unsubscribe Link
%PERS_UP% - Update Profile Link
%PEFS_WCOPY% - Web Copy Link
%PERS_FRIEND% - Sent to a Friend Link

Forward to a Friend

To create a link that allows to you to forward to a friend use the tag %PERS_FRIEND%. This directs you to a page that asks your name, friend's email, friend's name, and a personalized message. After filling out the form the friend receives a "thought you may be interested in this mailing" letter with a link on the bottom. To create a clickable link that will forward the mailing to a friend you can use the format

Update Profile Tag

The update profile tag %PERS_UP% creates a link that allows subscribers to update their name and optional fields on a Modify Subscriber Details page with the click of a button.

Web Copy Link

When you insert a web copy link %PEFS_WCOPY% you create a link to a web version of the mailing. Useful to include if, for example, subscriber's email client does not support full HTML. Link tracking and read/open tracking still works with the web version.

Unsubscribe Link

When you create a new message an automatic unsubscribe link is checked "Yes" by default. This creates a link allowing users to easily unsubscribe to a mailing. To customize your unsubscribe link, type in the message you want to use for your unsubscribe link and highlight it. Click on the hyperlink button on the top of the WYSIWG editor (hyperlink is shown when your mouse scrolls over the right button) and enter "%PERS_UNSUB% and click "OK". You have just created an unsubscribe link that should now be highlighted.
